Oxbow, Inc. now has a new web site. These pages will disappear in a little while.
Oxbow inc.is a wetlands preservation organiztion. Its purpose is to protect the seasonal wetlands and floodplain at the confluence of the Great Miami and Ohio Rivers from development. Oxbow, Inc. pursues this goal by raising funds to purchase land and conservation easements in the floodplain. Oxbow owns about 260 acres of the floodplain in Indiana and owns easements on another 260 acres of farm land.

This map shows the the Oxbow region at the place where the Great Miami River empties into the Ohio, just a little west of Cincinnati and a little east of Lawrenceburg. The Oxbow Lake, for which the region is named is the "C" shaped lake visible just above the second 'r' of the label 'Lawrenceburg' at about 84.83W and 39.12N.
Oxbow, Inc. runs monthly field trips into the flood plain, and holds monthly meetings. The meetings are held on alternate months in Cincinnati, OH and Lawrenceburg, IN. Everyone is invited to attend the trips and meetings. Information about upcomming activities can be found in the most recent Wetland Matters.
Oxbow sponsors scientific research on wetland ecology, and offers a variety of informative slide programs to local schools and organizations. Some funds are available to support field trips to the Oxbow area by children from local schools.
Oxbow has about 1,000 members. Everyone is invited to join.
