genus Dolichopus

Femurs are all yellow

ocellar cilia are light colored and antenna is yellow

No cilia on the underside of hind femur
This character is easier to understand by comparing with D. reflectus and D. scapularis.

Fore tibia are ornamented with long dark hairs on the last 2 segments, but the segments themselves are not enlarged or flattened.

Wings are long and narrowing at the base a little more than is typical in the genus. There's a lobe in the wing edge at the end of the 6th vein.

All femora dark, lower orbital cilia are light colored.

Vein M without sharp angle and stump vein.

Femora are yellow, hind tibia with distinct dark tip, hind taris are all black. There's a 90 degree bend in the 4th vein and a "stump vein" extending beyond it.

Yellow femora, light ocelar cilia, dark calyptral setae, all yellow hind tibia and hind tarsus 1 mostly or all yellow.

Postpronotum (humerus) yellow, not metallic.
