Testing and Grading Policy:  Grades are to be based on two midterm

Examinations referred to as Test 1 and Test 2, a final examination, and eight

quizzes.  Test 1 will be given on October 19th (a Tuesday) at 5:00-6:30 p.m.

in Zimmer Auditorium.  It will count as 25% of the grade. 

Test 2 will be given on November 9th (a Tuesday) at 5:00-6:30 p.m.

in Zimmer Auditorium.  It will count as 25% of the grade.  The final examination

will be given on Monday, December 6, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. (to 12:30 p.m.) in

Room 525 of the Old Chemistry Building (and NOT in Zimmer Auditorium). 

It will be comprehensive and count as 35% of the grade.  The remaining 15%

of the grade will be based on 8 quizzes to be given in class during the eight weeks

in which  Test 1 or Test 2 is not given.  The separate page labeled Assignments explicitly

indicates the subject matter to be covered by the various examinations and quizzes. 

 

Pocket calculators and other such aids are prohibited during the various examinations.

 

Withdrawals:  A withdrawal with passing status (W) will be permitted up through Thursday, November 18th.  After that date, withdrawal slips cannot be processed. 

 

 

(As a mathematics class below the 500 level, this course is categorized as QR (quantitative reasoning)

and, of the four competencies, it fits under ‘Critical Thinking’.)
