Testing and Grading Policy: There will be three 50-minute examinations and a 2-hour final examination.
Each 50-minute exam will be graded on a basis of 100 points and will count as 1/5 of your final grade.
The final examination will count as 2/5 of your grade.
Test 1 Friday, April 16, 11:00 a.m. - 11:50 a.m.
Test 2 Friday, May 7, 11:00 a.m. - 11:50 a.m.
Test 3 Friday, May 28, 11:00 a.m. - 11:50 a.m.
Final Exam Monday, June 7, at 7:30-9:30 a.m. (in Room 710 Rieveschl)
Partial credit on tests is awarded only for work that is mostly correct except for one on two minor errors. You will not be given partial credit for attempting to solve a problem by an incorrect method. You must show your work on the tests. A correct answer without the accompanying correct work will receive no credit; an incorrect final answer accompanied by mostly correct work will receive substantial credit. Also, it is the responsibility of each student to arrange the work in a logical manner and to write legibly. Remember, when your paper is graded, the grade is based on the work shown, not what was intended or implied. Please bring and use Examination Booklets (i.e. “Blue Books”) for Tests 1, 2, 3 and the two-hour final examination. If you wish, you may use pocket calculators provided that they are only calculators (without the ability to perform symbolic computations --and do not have telephones or unusual gadgets connected to them).
Withdrawal Policy: A withdrawal with passing status (W) will be permitted up through Tuesday, May 25, 2004. After that date, withdrawal slips cannot be processed.
The MATHEMATICA commands from the Calculus-II-Laboratory course that are primarily concerned with differential equations, occur in Chapter 6 of the book ‘CalcLabs-with-Mathematica---Single Variable’ 2nd Edition, by Selwyn Hollis. To recall these commands when having access to a computer with MATHEMATICA installed, you may visit the web page
http://math.uc.edu/~chalklr/Calc-2-Lab-Notebooks.htmand then click on Chapter 6.
