Most of the input statements of Chapter 1 can be downloaded from the notebook accessed by clicking here.
Some of the animations require adjustments to the control buttons.
It is helpful to evaluate the MATHEMATICA Input statements as you read in the text what they do.
Week of January 10 – January 14 (Second Week)
Solving the various problems assigned in the download prepared for Chapter 1.
Each of the following Labs will begin with a short quiz on the most basic techniques.
About 10 minutes should be sufficient and the questions will be similar to the previously assigned problems. Then, the remainder of these labs will be devoted to new topics in our textbook. As the course progresses, there will be new notebooks to download for evaluation as the corresponding topics are covered in the textbook. The corresponding MATHEMATICA notebooks will be downloadable from hyperlinks to be created below.

No homework will be collected. Grades will be based solely on the short quizzes given at the beginning of each class from the third week onward.

Week of January 17—January 21 (Third Week)
Input statements for Chapter 2 can be downloaded by clicking here.
The only serious misprint occurs in the formula for slopeMovie on page 61.
There should be a comma at the end of the third line from the bottom of the page.

Week of January 24—January 28 (Fourth Week)
Input statements for the first part of Chapter 3 (Pages 69—85) can be downloaded by clicking here.

Week of February 7 ---February 11 (Sixth Week)
Input statements (written in InputForm rather than StandardForm) can be downloaded by clicking here. They may be evaluated one-by-one as you read about the corresponding topics in Chapter 4. The only serious misprint in this Chapter occurs at the bottom of page 128 where the formula for simpsonData should have
wt[i_] := 3. + (-1)^i in place of wt[i_] := 3. +(-1)^(i-1) .

Week of February 14---February 18 (Seventh Week)
Input statements (written in InputForm rather than StandardForm) can be downloaded by clicking here. They may be evaluated one-by-one as you read about the corresponding topics in Chapter 5.
_________________________________________________________________________
Week of February 21---February 25 (Eighth Week)
Input statements (written in InputForm rather than StandardForm) can be downloaded by clicking here. They may be evaluated one-by-one as you read about the corresponding topics in Chapter 6.
_________________________________________________________________________
Chapter 7 of our textbook corresponds to subject matter (infinite series, functions defined by power series, etc.) that is covered in Calculus III. Thus, we shall skip Chapter 7.
_________________________________________________________________________
Chapter 8 contains a very interesting animation for polar coordinates on page 218.
Input statements can be downloaded by clicking here. They may be evaluated one-by-one as you read about the corresponding topics in Chapter 8.
This Quarter (Winter, 2005), the short examinations will emphasize only the most basic commands.
As of February 9th, they include: Expand, Factor, Together, Apart, Simplify, FullSimplify, Solve, NSolve, FindRoot (as superior to Newton’s Method), N, Table, Differentiate, Integrate, NIntegrate (as superior to Simpson’s method), Sum, = , := , /. , /; .
To emphasize knowing well the basic commands, you may expect later quizzes to involve any of the basic commands already covered.
During the Winter Quarter of 2003, three sections of the Calculus 2 Laboratories were taught in a manner similar to that outlined above. While the quizzes given then are likely not similar to the corresponding quizzes for this quarter, they also involve basic commands.
The examinations given at the beginning of each class for Section 003 were Exam 1, Exam 2, Exam 3, Exam 4, Exam 5, Exam 6, Exam 7, Exam 8.
The examinations given at the beginning of each class for Section 004 were Exam 1, Exam 2, Exam 3, Exam 4, Exam 5, Exam 6, Exam 7, Exam 8.
The examinations given at the beginning of each class for Section 006 were Exam 1, Exam 2, Exam 3, Exam 4, Exam 5, Exam 6, Exam 7, Exam 8.
