Master of Science

Mathematics Master's Degree in Mathematics:

45 credits from mathematics courses. The courses Design and Analysis of Algorithms (2 qtrs) and Automata and Formal Languages (1 qtr) from Computer Science are allowed.  A Master's thesis is worth 6 credits. GPA must be 3.0 or higher.
TWO 3-quarter graduate level sequences with one of them at the 600-level. Numerical Analysis (514-516) counts as a 600-level class.  Linear Models (613-615) cannot be used here. GPA over the six courses must be 3.0 or higher.
Successful completion of an oral exam.  Familiarity with Advanced Calculus and Linear Algebra. Passing a PhD pre-lim or defending a Master's thesis can meet requirements, with approval.
