Open Positions The department invites applications for the following positions: 1. One or more tenure-track Assistant Professorships. Applicants with expertise in numerical analysis, financial mathematics, statistics and mathematical education are particularly encouraged to apply. However, strong candidates whose research interests mesh well with the research interests of department faculty will also be considered. The department has a graduate program offering both MS and PhD degrees with concentration in mathematics and statistics. The Department of Mathematical Sciences is dedicated to excellence in both research and teaching. Candidates should have strong research potential as well as the potential to make a significant contribution to the department’s undergraduate educational mission. The standard teaching load is two courses per quarter.
Completed applications consisting of a cover letter, CV, description of research program, description of teaching experience, and three letters of recommendation should be submitted on mathjobs.org. Applicants should also submit a CV and cover letter to at UC’s recruitment system . Review of applicants will begin on December 15, 2009. Appointments will begin September 1, 2010. 2. The department has a varying need for adjunct instructors to teach courses at the Calculus level and below in both the day and the evening. Applicants should have at least a Master's degree in Mathematics or Statistics, or secondary teaching certification in mathematics with high school teaching experience.
