Statistical Consulting Course 15-MATH-720,1,2,3 (3 graduate credits) |
|
Student enrolled in this course will
participate in the statistical consulting mission of the new Statistical
Consulting Laboratory (SCL) of the Department of Mathematical Sciences.
Under the guidance of the directors of the lab, the students will typically
work in teams of two on projects brought to the lab by other researchers
from on and off campus. Student will be expected to interact with these
researchers. A significant amount of class time will be devoted to learning
new statistical techniques necessary for particular projects, as well as
developing consulting and presentation skills. Student will be expected to
make written and oral presentations on each project that they work on. Class
size will be limited to 10 to 15 each quarter. Students can take the class
more than once, but only after every student has a chance to take the class.
Students from the Department of Mathematical Science will be given priority
over students from other departments. |
